Welcome

My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.

This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thanks,
Billy Hunt

Carrie & Eddie Wedding Preview

October 30th, 2008

How fun are Carrie and Eddie? And their family?  More later, but I wanted to show you a few images from their gorgeous wedding at the UVA Chapel and The Omni here in Charlottesville.

Karen and Theron

October 27th, 2008

Karen and Theron were troopers. On the first really frosty morning of the year, we went down to Riverside Park to take some engagement pictures.  They were tough though, and we all had a good time despite the cold.

There story is a timeless one.  Chemical engineer meets physicist, and they fall in love.  So romantic.

Loren & Chuck's wedding

October 17th, 2008

Sweet Loren and Chuck. I cannot tell you how much fun I had at their wedding at Veritas Vineyards. Despite being elegant, there was a casual, relaxed feel that made everyone very comfortable. Loren wanted people to have a good time, and made sure everyone was taken care of. Additionally, there was an unmistakable warmth from the entire family. It was nice to see everyone come together in celebration of the happy couple. Thank you both.

Christina & Danny's wedding

October 17th, 2008

Have you ever met someone so funny it was intimidating? My first thought when I met Danny was “Wait, I am supposed to be the funny one.” Then I got over myself and enjoyed their excellent company.

Danny and Christina’s wedding at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia was incredible. Reverend Claire (my fave) officiated, and was particularly poignant. However, my main memory of the wedding was the joy that the couple held in their hearts. It seem like every other picture is of them laughing. What a great way to start a marriage.

Finally, I have to tell the story of how they started dating. In college, Danny sold his books to buy a plane ticket to Spain. He surprised Christina there, and professed his love. Of course she accepted and now they are married. How cool is that?

The CLAW Book

October 16th, 2008

A CLAW To Remember: The Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestler 2008 Retrospective is done. You can buy your copy at my art opening atThe Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative on November 7. I went back and forth on showing the book to the public before the opening, but ultimately decided that I should let everyone see the glory. Thanks to Harvest Moon Catering, Abrakadabra, Monkeyclaus, The Blue Moon Diner, and of course, the women of CLAW. Also, thanks to Wistar Murray for writing and editing. Alloy Workshop for design, Will May for conceptual vision, Jennifer Tidwell for being amazing, and my wife Jocelyn and son William for everything else. You all are wonderful.

Mark the opening:

Lynsie and Colin's Wedding

October 14th, 2008

Colin and I used to work together in Northern Virgina about 10 years ago, back when the traffic was only awful. Since then, we had lost touch, and I was so happy when he asked me to photograph his wedding. His wife Lynsie is a dream. A sweet, caring person, who constantly makes sure everyone is taken care of.

The attention to detail at the wedding was incredible, and theirs was the first I have been to with all organic, local food, an impressive feat. Did I mention they had square dancing? So fun.

Photographing Fashion: C-Ville's Sugar Supplement

October 8th, 2008

After a 2 year break, I have started doing a little bit of newspaper work again. As you probably know, I love fashion photography, and I could not say no when the C-Ville asked me to photograph this season’s Sugar supplement, which focused on saving money by going vintage. We were working in Charlottesville’s new Downtown Transit Station, and later took a ride on the trolley. The Transit Station is beautiful, but the shoot got a little strange at times. Having a hobo leering at a model can really break the mood.

Despite that, I think the images came out well. Check them out, and let me know what you think.

Danny and Christina Wedding Preview

October 7th, 2008

This weekend, Jeremy and I photographed Danny and Christina wedding. More next week, but lets just say, international studies majors know how to have a good time. Also, is 80′s music hot now? I didn’t get the memo.

Loren and Chuck Wedding Preview

October 6th, 2008

Loren and Chuck’s wedding at Veritas Vineyard this past weekend was great. Nice weather, a spirited crowd, and a couple very much in love were what struck me about the event. More on it next week, but here is a preview.
