My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.
This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.
Tiffany and Joey know how to have a good time. Childhood friends from West Virginia, they fell in love and currently live a good life in Richmond. I really identified with their “grow up in the country and move to a small city lifestyle,” and very much enjoy their company. Here is a preview of their wedding, with more to come later.
I had the best time in Nags Head this past week. It was super nice to relax after a hectic couple of months. Here are some photos from the trip. Now it is time to work on some weddings.
We are on vacation in Nags Head, North Carolina this week, and I am having so much fun. I will post some of my photos from the trip soon, but just to give you a taste of the magic, I thought I would share these gems we purchased from the North Carolina Aquarium.
My work offering free portraits to unemployed persons was featured on CBS19 and ABC16. The reporter, Sara Ross, was so great. She made me feel comfortable, and not like a total dork. Thanks Sara.
Marshall and Jeff’s wedding was beautiful. They were married at their parents house right on the Chesapeake Bay, and I remember looking at my GPS when I was approaching the home and blue (the symbol for water) everywhere. It reminded me of my childhood home in Poquoson.
Here is a preview of the wedding. More to come later.
When I asked Keri and Patrick where they wanted to take their engagement portrait, I was expecing maybe a vineyard, or a nice restaurant on the Downtown Mall. Obviously, I was super excited when they suggested we photograph them at Keglers, the local bowling alley. I want to say it was the perfect photoshoot, but there was one huge problem. I bowled the worst game of my life. Keri kept making fun of me. It was painful. I want to say I threw the game. I want to say I was too focused on my photography to play well. All I can really say is that I bowled a freakin’ 43! Ouch.
Some of my photographs from the Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers will be shown during the Slideluck Potshow this Thursday, June 11 at Rapture/Club R2. The show, which is a part of The Festival of the Photograph, is from 9-11pm, so check it out if you get a chance.
SLIDELUCK POTSHOW is a NYC-based arts non-profit, operating in many cities globally, that aims to bring people together around food and art, and to give people an interesting, engaging, and fun platform for sharing art with their community.
Jackie graduated from law school this year, and asked me to photograph her and her family at the event. It was a rainy day, with crazy light that changed dramatically from moment to moment. I like the images though, and Jackie and her family were awesome. You can tell she is very comfortable in front of the camera, and the looks of pride from her parents are pretty great.
I have known Casey since middle school. We used to sail together in the Junior Program at the Hampton Yacht Club. Somehow, I was a little worried that our friendship might hurt the imagery in some way. Fortunately, it was not a problem. Since I already knew most people at the event, I could immediately get down to the business of taking pictures, and there was an immediate trust that usually takes a few hours to build at an event. I think the imagery here shows an ease and intimacy that reflects our friendship. What do you think? Could you guess from looking at these pictures that I hung out with her and her family 20 years ago?
Finally, let me just say how happy I am that Casey and Morgan found each other. They are two of the most thoughtful, caring people I know. They both use their gifts to make a positive difference in the world, and I think they are perfect for one another.
