billy hunt

Welcome

My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.

This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thanks,
Billy Hunt

Margot and Geoff’s Wedding

July 28th, 2009

Margot and Geoff’s wedding in Madison was absolutely beautiful. Margot was a vision, and Geoff was so smart in his awesome suit. That man can make a crab cufflink work. Beautiful people, georious weather, and fireworks. Whats not to like? Thanks you all, for an amazing time.

The Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers 2009 Reunion – “The Thrilla in C-Villa”

July 27th, 2009

I had the pleasure to be a part of the Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLAW) Reunion this past weekend. Last year I photographed the event exhaustively, and I was concerned that any work I did this year would be redundant. So, for a change of pace, I decided to set up a simple studio and capture some of the characters who ambled by. I think the stark, simple look of the black and white images is a nice juxtaposition to my previous work. I hope you like it.

Also, doesn’t my wife Jocelyn look hot? I am so proud of her for being a part of Bridezilla’s entourage.

Radius 250 Exhibit at Art Space

July 23rd, 2009

One of my Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers photographs is in a juried show in Richmond at Artspace this summer. Last weekend, Jocelyn, William and I went to check it out. It was a really cool exhibit, and a great space to show work.

Charlottesville Photo Critique

July 20th, 2009

I am interested in developing community in Charlottesville, especially as it relates to the arts. To that end, we had a photo critique last week at The Bridge, PAI. Photographers of different levels got together and discussed each others work and projects. I, for one, was super inspired. People in Charlottesville are so freakingsmart. Thanks to everyone who came out, and I look forward to doing another one again in September. Contact me if you are interested in getting in on the fun.

Tiffany and Joseph’s Wedding

July 10th, 2009

I work with a lot of fun couples, but Tiffany and Joey might just take the cake. They know how to have a good time. From the ceremony at UVA’s Chapel to the reception at Greencroft Country Club, they made sure that everyone was having fun and taken care of. Additionally, their wedding is definitely the undisputed booty-dancingist wedding I have ever been a part of. For that, I thank them.

My Band Made a Music Video

July 10th, 2009

This is primarily my photography website, so I don’t talk too much about my other life as a musician. That being said, I am pretty proud of our first music video. My good friend Gabe Deloach made it, and I think he did a great job. Also featured are Bree Luck, Darryl Smith, and my son, William.

So if you have time, check out “When Animals Attack,” and let me know what you think.

My Fun Weekend

July 7th, 2009

I had a nice weekend with my family this 4th of July. On Friday Jocelyn, William, and I went to The Bridge PAI and saw the art show “Destroyed by Madness.” And by see the show, I mean we played on the their inexplicable moonbounce. After that, Jocelyn and I saw Birdlips at the Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar. July 4 was spent as it should be: in an above-ground pool, and then a lawnchair in the road watching fireworks.

Here are a few images and movies from the past holiday weekend.

Margot and Geoff’s Wedding Preview

July 7th, 2009

Margot and Geoff looked so good at their wedding in Madison. Beautiful light, a gorgeous family home overlooking a lake and mountains, nice weather, and beautiful people make for a nice wedding. Here is a sample, with more to come later.

Marshall and Jeff’s Wedding

July 3rd, 2009

I am from the Tidewater area of Southeastern Virgina, and I think there is something that draws me back to that area to do weddings. I feel at home when I can smell the Chesapeake Bay (not sure if that is good or bad). Anyway, Marchall and Jeff’s wedding in Gloucester is very close to my family home in Poquoson, and made me feel comfortable. Marshall and Jeff were awesome, as always, and had a nice, small, intimate wedding with tons of heart. They recited Led Zeppelin to one another and had fireworks, which also reminded me of home. Thanks guys.
