Welcome

My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.

This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thanks,
Billy Hunt

Karas Senior Portrait

August 26th, 2009

I photographed Kara during a commercial photoshoot for Cafe Cubano recently, and was delighted when she asked me to take her senior portrait. We wanted to do something a little different, more of an editorial fashion shoot then your traditional senior portrait. I think the images are pretty cool, and Kara was lovely, or course.

Portrait of Megan

August 24th, 2009

Megan is working this summer for the C-Ville, and while she and I were working on a photograph, I took this quick portrait. (I told her it was a light test, but really it was because I thought she looked cool.)

Trees on Fire at Rapunzel’s Coffee and Books

August 18th, 2009

My band had the opportunity to play with Trees on Fire this past weekend at Rapunzel’s in Lovingston. Those guys are so cool. I took a few pictures, and here they are.

Kings Dominion with the Family

August 18th, 2009

I went to Kings Dominion a few weekends ago with William and Jocelyn. I decided to make an 8mm style home movie of the experience, and finally got it how I like it. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Marylyle and Jordan’s Wedding Slideshow Preview

August 17th, 2009

Marylyle and Jordan’s wedding yesterday was so beautiful. I love ceremonies that draw from multiple traditions, and theirs was an amazing mix of Jewish and Scottish traditions, and their unique modern estetic. My good friend Claire Goodman co officiated with Jordan’s mother Heena, and their wedding was heartfelt and beautiful. I cannot convey how close and loving this newly joined family was. It was heartwarming.

On another note, this time, I am showing a sort of mini slideshow that was created at the wedding for the guests. There will be a fuller slideshow later that includes the reception, but I thought this would be nice to show this immediately to the general public. I hope you like it.

RIP Camera Bag 2000-2009

August 14th, 2009

Today I retired my last piece of original camera equipment. “My Favorite Bag,” which is how I describe it to my assistants, has served me my entire career as a professional photographer. I used it daily with 9 different cameras taking literally hundreds of thousands of images. All good things come to an end though, and my old bag was showing more then a little wear. I like the new one, but it seems so, well, new. I guess I will just have to give this new relationship some time.

Carlisle and Mary Family Portraits

August 7th, 2009

I finally have some time to post some of my recent work, and the first on my list is to showcase the Wade Family. Carlisle, Mary, and their two children were wonderful: kind, sweet and in love.

Video on C-Ville of Photo Contest Winners

August 5th, 2009

Here is a video C-Ville made interviewing all the photo contest winners this year. Thank goodness I wore I nice shirt.

I won the C-Ville Photo Contest

August 4th, 2009

My photo “Llyr” just won first place in this year’s C-Ville Photo Contest. Click here to see all the other winners, or pick up a copy this week. I think Ron Dressel’s “Rock’n Fridays After Five” is particularly hot. Also, a photo I took of William won an honorable mention in the contest. Of course he gets first place in my heart. :)
