Welcome

My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.

This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.

Thanks,

Trager Bros. Coffee Commercial and Powhatan Studios

February 26th, 2010

We just finished our new commercial for Trager Brothers Coffee. Here it is in all its silly glory. Also, I am starting to post my video work on our new website, powhatanstudios.com. Powhatan Studios is my new viral video company where I work with Jennifer Tidwell, Brian Wimer, and other local geniuses to bridge the gap between artistic creativity and shameless commercialism.

If you own a business and want to try a more personal, measurable way to communicate with your customers, consider contacting us.

See what happens when you invest in an $11,000 advanced coffee system with robotics.

Trager Brothers Coffee is a 100% Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee micro-roastery located in the beautiful mountains of Nelson County, Virginia. Look for them in your local markets and in Whole Foods. You can also purchase coffee and accessories at http://www.tbcroasters.com. 100% Organic, 100% of the time.

Sara and Chad's Wedding Slideshow

February 24th, 2010

Chad is a Chef for Harvest Moon Catering here in Charlottesville, Virginia. I am good friends with Harvest Moon, so I wanted to make sure I photographed their wedding at Livearts and Second Street Gallery well. Sara was stunning, and Chad was looking fine himself. This was probably the lowest light ceremony I have ever shot, and I love the way it looks. There are two pictures that really stand out to me. One is the wide shot of the ceremony. Its so dark and intimate. The other is Sara and Chad getting ready. Both of them are separated by a thin wall, minutes from being married, and they can’t see each other. So romantic.

My Advanced Photo Class

February 10th, 2010

I had an amazing time in my Advanced Photo Class last weekend. The students who could make it braved a snow blizzard to take some amazing imagery. Here is some of the work we did. Photos by Joey Howington, Lucy O’Dell, Fred Perry, Shawn Ayers, Michael Johnson, Sam Baker, and myself. Note. I will be offering a make up class for my students who could not make it, and for anyone else who would like to take the course.

The Proulx Family Portrait

February 9th, 2010

I met Gina and Gray in a meditation class, and we have stayed friends since then. Gina is a great photographer herself so I felt honored that she asked me to take her family’s portrait. You can see from the imagery how energetic and fun they are together. Note: no child was harmed in anyway during this photoshoot.

My "Intern" for the week.

February 5th, 2010

Courtney’s 8th grade school project this week was to intern at a local business. She was nice enough to choose mine, and even though this crazy weather caused some disruptions, she did an amazing job researching and helping me set up a photoshoot. Thanks Courtney.

Marylyle and Jordan's Wedding Featured in Offbeat Bride

February 2nd, 2010

Marylyle and Jordan’s Celtic and Jewish wedding was featured in the always cool Offbeat Bride this week. The Celtic/Unitarian/Sephardic traditions they drew from are a testament to what is possible with today’s weddings. I love how unique their wedding was, and I am honored to have been their photographer.
