My name is Billy Hunt, and I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to producing amazing imagery, I create a relaxed, positive space for my brides, grooms and everyone I photograph. My clients are discerning, thoughtful people, who not only want great imagery, but want to enjoy the experience. I love what I do, and I think that it shows in my work.
This website showcases my weddings, portraits and personal endeavors as an artist. Through it, I hope you can get a sense of who I am. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback.
I photographed Elise Blake this past weekend so she could update her website and social networking sites. She was super easy to work with. Thanks for bringing your ‘A’ game Elise. Anyone who needs a violin player, hire her up, she rocks.
I have been doing a new series of portraits with flowers over peoples eyes. Before this shoot at the lovely Montfair Resort, I was pretty upset because my dog had hurt herself, and I almost didn’t do the it because I was so frazzled. Crescentia helped pull me through, and I am really happy with the images. Thanks Crescentia.
Piedmont Charlottesville CASA has a new campaign to get more men to volunteer helping children in the court system. Its called Stand Up for a Child, and they are getting prominent politicians to lend their voice to the cause. Congressman Tom Perriello was the first person to get his portrait taken. Please volunteer for CASA if you can. We did it for years, and it was super rewarding.
I had an amazing time in my Advanced Photo Class last weekend. The students who could make it braved a snow blizzard to take some amazing imagery. Here is some of the work we did. Photos by Joey Howington, Lucy O’Dell, Fred Perry, Shawn Ayers, Michael Johnson, Sam Baker, and myself. Note. I will be offering a make up class for my students who could not make it, and for anyone else who would like to take the course.
Here is my new infomercial, “Four tips for Looking Beautiful in Photos” I am really excited to have my own Jingle! I think my mom would be proud.
Even though this is a little silly, I really do believe the tips in this video will help look better in your photos. You would not believe how many times I have to help people get through their photographic hangups. Just remember, you are beautiful. It’s true.

Many of you may know Bree as the beautiful, angry Stiletto Southpaw. I know her as amazing. Bree needed some new headshots for her acting career, and we had a great time working together. She is very comfortable with who she is, which really helps make for great photos.
Sara and Peter are a couple of the owners of Monkeyclaus Recording Studio, among other things, and I have been friends with them since my old band, The Karl Rove, recorded there 6 or 7 years ago. Spending time with them is always amazing, as they show me how successful business and revolutionary action can be combined in ways I would never think of. I recently took engagement photos of them, and it was super fun. We went on an old bus in their field, and spent time out at their studio. Those guys know how to have a good time. I can’t wait to visit them again with my current band when we record in January.
I miss Colleen. She was my officemate for almost 2 years, and she recently moved out to get a bigger space for her growing design firm. I am using the extra studio space well, but I really liked having someone in the office to bounce ideas off of, or to jut shoot the breeze. Anyway, I did her portrait for her new website, and here they are.
Karen asked me to do some artist portraits of her in her studio, and I fell in love with her Star Trek art. This last minute shot we took is my favorite. I feel her and Kirk are in a love triangle or something.
I photographed Kara during a commercial photoshoot for Cafe Cubano recently, and was delighted when she asked me to take her senior portrait. We wanted to do something a little different, more of an editorial fashion shoot then your traditional senior portrait. I think the images are pretty cool, and Kara was lovely, or course.
