I took some photos of Deerhunter the other night when they played at the Jefferson. The lighting in the jefferson is amazing, but sometimes when I shoot there, I think the bands can start to look the same under that amazing lighting. To try something different, I shot them in black and white, pretty dark, and super contrasty. Let me know what you think of the look.

Jenny Mikulski has a Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestler merchandise pack for sale, which includes my CLAW book. Its kind of strange to see your work live on after you have completed it.

I had the opportunity to shoot Noelle and Fitz-Hugh’s wedding here in Charlottesville a few weeks back, and despite a little rain, it was a beautiful event to photograph. It was a real intimate, Virginia wedding. I’m really happy with how the images have turned out.

In all the commotion lately, I forgot to mention my cover story in the C-Ville about Zombies. I have never been called a zombie expert before.
Zombies are hot,” says photographer Billy Hunt. “Zombies are now. Zombies are fresh. I feel like you throw a rock and you hit a zombie these days in Charlottesville.”

A couple of travelers were making these cool sculptures on the downtown mall. I thought they were beautiful, and asked Veronica and Simba if they would mind if I photographed one. They were nice enough to say yes.

When I found out I was Piedmont Council for the Arts‘ Mr. May, I got my bathing suit ready and did a lot of curls for some *ahem* boudoir photography. Alas, its not like that. PCA features a member every month, and they were nice enough to feature me in May. For you artists out there, PCA is awesome. Check out joining.
Again, here is me talking like a crazy person.
What are your favorite things to do around Charlottesville?
I love engaging in the arts here, Theater, Art Galleries, Music, whatever. Although I don’t find I have enough time to do it as often as I would like.
Also, my secret love. Eating out. Even though I love to cook, I would probably eat out almost every meal if I could. CHOMP!

I had an amazing time at South by Southwest. I saw my friends movie The Parking Lot Movie, which was great. I met a ton of cool, smart people who are up to all sorts of interesting things, and I learned a ton about film, particularly DSLR filmmaking and viral videos. I went down with Jeff Gunther and Megan Read, and they were amazing. I saw a lot of old friends too. I had no idea I knew so many hipsters who live in Austin or speak on panels at SXSW. Maybe I can ride on their coattails.
Here are some images from the show.
Damian Kulash from the OK Go. That dude knows how to make a video go viral. He mentioned boobs and kittens.

Man Making Fake Snow. Awesome and creepy.

Christopher Hlad and Meghan Eckman promoting their Parking Lot Movie. They were rock stars.

Charge your iphone at the pump, and Microsoft shows off its new bald spot technology.

Blowing something up. Movie Magic!
