Hot Moms of Charlottesville
For The Hot Mom's of Charlottesville Calander project, I set out to photograph mothers as pin-ups. I was interesting in showing the sexuality and beauty of real women, in contrast to the plasticized images replete in most magazines.
Despite the plethera of striking moms in my area, it was challenging to find models. In our culture, "hotness" is reserved for celebrities and seventeen year olds. Nearly all of the mother's gracious enough to participate were single or remarried.
Ironically a local shop that sells Betty Page books and all sorts of saucy
paraphenelia was relunctant to sell the calenders because they were too "racy." Proceeds
from sales went to a local charity to benefit children.
