What is the value of a photograph? Are books obsolete? We live in a culture awash with digital media. I personally took over 100,000 images last year. Probably less then 1% were printed, with the remainder living their entire life moving from one computer to another. Soup to nuts, cradle to grave.
I have been photographing nudes using instant film on an antique Polaroid camera, and printing the images on pages torn out of discarded books. My goal is to repurpose that which is no longer considered valuable. To make one-of-a-kind art objects using physical processes and materials, and have the sensuality and vulnerability of these long forgotten books reflected in the imagery. Because each book page is different, each print is unique edition of 1; to be valued or thrown out, cherished or ignored.
